Asking for a DSR Extension
How to request more time to fulfill a DSR
Asking for a DSR Extension
Under different state and global regulations, a business can offer an extension to the data subject to request additional time to fulfill the request. If your business needs an extension to fulfill a DSR, you can communicate this to your data subject, so they are aware of why the business needs additional time and when the business will be responding.
For example, for CCPA a business can offer an extension of either 45 or 90 days as long as it requested within 45 days of receiving the request. For GDPR, a business can extend the time to respond by a further two months if the request is complex or you have received a number of requests from the individual.
If you'd like to request an extension, you can email the subject outside of Ethyca via email with a template similar to the below.
[Company Name] values your privacy and security. We recently
received a request to [download/delete your personal information].
This email is to let you know we are working hard to fulfill your request;
however, we have encountered delays in processing data across our
internal systems. We will reach out to you as soon as your request has
been completed, no later than [Insert Date].
The subject's request will remain in your For Review queue until you are ready to review the request. Once you are ready to approve the request, simply click "Approve" in the Control Panel to kick off the completion of the request.
